The Ends of the Earth

7 Days in Svalbard, Norway, well above the Arctic Circle, looking for Polar Bears and the Aurora Borealis.  And perhaps some hot chocolate by the fire!

3 Days in Bergen, Norway, the city of 7 mountains, Norway's second largest city.  Some of the suburbs are located on islands.

11 Day Hurtigruten Cruise up and down the Norway Coast, called by many the Most Beautiful Voyage on the planet.

8 Days in Stockholm, the city built on 12 islands.  Lots of water and water taxis and museums, what's not to like?!  2 days in Stockholm at the beginning of the trip, then 6 days between cruises.

13 Day Baltic Cruise on the same 100 passenger ship we took to Antarctica four years ago, visiting Sweden, Finland, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, and Denmark.

We took off on the Antarctica trip from Ushaia, Argentina, the southernmost city in the world - billed as 'Fin del Mundo' (The End of the World).  And Longyearbyen, Norway, where we will stay in the Svalbard Archipelago, is the northernmost city in the world.  The ends of the earth!

The blue and white ship in the background below, the ship we took from Ushuaia to Antarctica, is the same ship we are taking on the Baltic Cruise on this trip.

And now, way up north...

In Tasmania, we searched for platypus in Latrobe, the Platypus Capital of the World. And on this trip, we visit Svalbard, the Norwegian pronunciation, or Spitzbergen, the Dutch pronunciation, the Polar Bear Capital of the World, and about as far from Latrobe as you can get. The ends of the earth!
